A good fun night out

We were in Auckland on a Friday night and decided to go to the trots at Alexandra Park. Parking was easy and free in the course and entry was also free. The public have access to a number of lounges where you can view the racing and also have a meal and drink. The meals are varied, appetizing and relatively cheap.

All in all a cheap night of entertaining in a relaxing, warm and interesting environment

But for the Barman this would have been 1 star

Hi we booked for 6 people and added another 2 for the 8th Dec. We would like to give some feedback.
When we arrived we went to place a bet there were only 2 ladies working and we gave her a $50.00 note they did not have change not very good as we had withdrawn the funds that we were going to use for the night. We had to have a scramble around to find the correct money. Again at the end of the night we went to cash in our winning tickets and joined the long Que as there was only one lady on at that stage only to be told she had no change I was okay as she needed $1.90 coin to round up to a note as I only had $1.70 lose in my purse I was able to get my winnings. Poor lady took the .20 cents from her own purse. Goodness knows how the people behind me got on.
As the last race was running all the glasses were taken from our table all the pens were collected. We were under the impression that the place was still open until at least 10.30. The bar closed as soon as the last race was over. I was the sober driver and went to the bar to ask for 1 glass of wine they gave me the dregs from a bottle that only quarter filled my glass and did not bother to open a new bottle.
A waitress came up behind my son an accidentally dropped a glass that was on her already full tray the glass plus some bottles fell on the floor and split drink on my son apologies and lots glass was split on the table and floor it have been nice if she has offered an apology.
All in all it was a dreadful experience and I felt that it very embarrassing for us as we had recommend this event. Please note this was not a cheap night out but it really felt like the staff were just going through the motions. Not something we will ever recommended to anyone else. I am not a person who ever complains but I felt I needed to this time.

This was a diner package with a meal etc for a Christmas function. We would not recommended this to anyone.
