We thought we were lost or something on the way there... but dont fret! Its part of the charm of this place. Really good cheese!!! And entertaining hosts. We bought their soft cheeses to take away. A great stop in Twizel when you want to kill time or you want to experience some really good cheese!

Great cheese, fantastic service, outstanding experience! My partner had done some investigating and we visited on a weekday (having taken the week off work in Chch for annual leave) Matt welcomed us warmly and provided a delicious tasting platter of various homemade cheeses, chutneys, and jams. We chatted comfortably with Matt past his closing time and we left, having purchased several of his cheeses and chutneys. Matt’s amicable service was most certainly one of the highlights of our trip to Twizel! Would recommend to anyone who loves cheese, chats, and stunning vistas :)

We visited Ben Ohau Road Cheese with no expectations only hoping to be able to taste some delicious cheese! We were delightfully surprised to arrive at a completely off-the-grid little picturesque farm and a warm welcome from Matt and his family. It was a beautiful sunny day and we sat on the grass under the shade of a tree amongst the complete tranquil of this idyllic Mackenzie Country farm - an experience you simply can’t replicate at any old cafe. Other than the humble yet incomparable atmosphere, the cheese was also excellent! The accompanying chutneys, fruit and crackers were perfect matches and the halloumi with mint & lemon dressing was a favourite! I think all we were missing was a glass of wine! And possibly a picnic blanket, but given these things we probably would’ve never left! ;-)

Off the beaten track cheese room. A different experience and setting. They make the cheese on site using local produce. Good quality cheese.

My Wife and 8 year old daughter arrived and were warmly welcomed. It was great to see someone really following their passion. The cheese was great as was the chutney and jelly. When we arrived we did not know what to expect but when we left we left with a smile and an admiration. Well done.

A slightly off the beaten track cheese-maker who makes Haloumi, a blue and a soft white cheese. We loved the Pear Jelly which had a molasses or thick honey consistency. A great accompaniment to the cheese.
