delightful stay with delicious breakfast eggs
Brackish Beach-- we had inadvertently booked right before the Hokitika Wild Foods Festival. We received a warm welcome from TJ who provided some beverages, and she gave us great tips about the beach, town and area. We also communicated some needs beforehand, and they were prompt and attentive. It was great to chat with Paul in the morning. Two of the suites are beach-facing, but if you have 3 people who don't want to share beds, a 3rd suite is available that is front-facing of the property. The backyard garden was full bloom of maroon colored hydrangeas, and the walk to the beach is an adventure. Very pleasant stay. Thank you!

Best night on the West Coast
On our second night in NZ, after taking the train from Christchurch to Greymouth, we spent a night at Brackish Beach. We opted for the “gourmet dinner” which was cooked by TJ and hosted by Paul. This was an excellent meal, one of the best we had in NZ. Setting was quaint and quiet, but we did have a fun visit with the local Wikkas. Did not make it down to the beach to see the little blue penguins because of rain. Highly recommended!

Brilliant stay, amazing area
We stayed for two nights and felt extremely comfortable and welcomed by TJ and Paul. They were very friendly and helpful, and gave us some great tips on things to see and do. The room was nice - it’s well worth getting the sea view room with the private deck area. It’s a short drive to Hokitika, which is a nice enough town to potter around for an afternoon. The best bit however is the nearby beach, accessible by a short walk or a very short paddle boat ride (which is a great adventure!) We had a great afternoon on an absolutely deserted section of beach, sunbathing and looking for greenstone. The breakfast was simple but tasty - the fresh eggs were a highlight. We also enjoyed meeting Rogan and Josh, the pet sheep, who were very friendly! I think our only slight hiccup was that the fire alarm in our room went off at 5am for no apparent reason... luckily it only lasted a few seconds but it was a bit of a rude awakening! Other than that, a great stay and somewhere I would definitely recommend. …

Great breakfast with fresh eggs
Very nice and friendly couple. We received a warm welcome. We had nice views of the garden and the sea. Large room with comfortable bed. We got great tips on places to visit. At breakfast we received fresh eggs from their own hens.
