The Hokowhitu Café and Bar is located within the picturesque grounds of the Manawatu Golf Club in the suburb of Hokowhitu, Palmerston North. The spacious café in our unique location nestled between the Manawatu River and the city’s Centennial Drive Lagoon provides visitors the opportunity to relax over coffee and a light snack or choose from a range of fresh cabinet food and menu options. We also offer a selection of beverages including smoothies, juices. Our Palmerston North cafe is open six days per week and has indoor and outdoor settings overlooking our stunning tree-lined course. WE ARE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC - EVERYONE IS WELCOME!

excellent destination venue

After reading reviews I tried this cafe out and was very glad I did. The staff were friendly and service was excellent. In addition the food was outstanding. The reviews showing 5 stars were all very accurate. I thoroughly recommend dining here as it is only a short drive from the city centre.

first time diner in the evening

We have been to the Cafe many times for lunch and held my 70th birthday there 5 years ago, but this year wanted dinner so booked for 14 people at 6.30 and had an excellent experience from the service right thru to the food and drinks - I will remeber my 75th birthday with as fond a memories as I have my 70th - Thank you Hokowhitu Cafe

An unusual and lovely place for a coffee, brunch or lunch

This is now included as one of the pleasant Palmerston North cafes we visit on a Sunday morning for a good strong coffee and a lovely scone. But it is also excellent for brunch and lunch. I have also been to special group functions there and every time the food has been excellent - good value for money. This is a cafe at a beautiful golf course, so if you sit on the patio to have your coffee, you can watch people teeing off and also attempting the 18th hole. That is highly entertaining! The prices are very reasonable, the service pleasant and friendly. Yes there are lots of golfing sorts about, but the general public are very welcome to the cafe and it is very popular. The savory or cheese scones are simply delicious.

A lovely, peaceful place for lunch.

Restful with big windows looking out onto the golf course. Heaps of room, quiet with energetic and friendly staff. Great food, just a great place for a quiet lunch.

Wedding Anniversary meal with friends

Loved it! Superb food, especially the chicken stuffed with Brie and a maple glaze - to die for. We shared garlic bread to start (very generous portions), and after the mains were too full to even look at the dessert menu. Staff were extremely polite and attentive, and everything arrived piping hot. Highly recommended.

Lunch on the Golf Course

Nice peaceful place with a view of the Manawatu Golf Course through large picture windows as you eat. Friendly and highly efficient staff, delicious food and excellent coffee as always. Highly recommend the Thai Beef Salad and Soup of the Day.
