A delightful find

Excellent Indian food in south taranaki. Comprehensive menu, local beers and other drinks. Warm, engaging staff, and easy ambiance. Tandoori prawns are superb.

Great restaurant

My husband and I stopped in with our 3 year old daughter. The service was great, and the food was delicious. The staff quickly brought a large padded highchair when we arrived, which was really clean - a refreshing change to the dirty uncomfortable wooden ones many places have these days. The food came out piping hot and delicious. Hubby and I both had medium curries as it was our first time here. There was definitely a little bit of heat but not as much as we were expecting. We stopped here at the end of a long day in the car and left very happy and very full. We will stop again next time we're passing through town.

Great flavours

We enjoyed our dinner and the flavours were delicious! I especially appreciated the cumin rice matching the Lamb shank flavours, a special that night. My friend found her coconut rice also was a great match to her medium hot chicken curry. Excellent attentive service. Separate family rooms make a pleasant dining experience as one Mum told me, she was glad that she was able to have her children in a separate area!

Excellent in every way

Food was Fantastic, service was Outstanding! Pleasant and professional asking us how much time we wanted between courses was a great touch. Best option in Hawera by a million miles. Thank You. Recommend the Chicken Tawa, they had a Scallop Entree spécial which was amazing to.

Best option in Hawera

I've been twice recently, for lunch and dinner. Lovely flavours, generous servings, and good vibes. The owner was lovely and gave advice on dishes. I tried chicken Tawa for the first time. Just lovely. Next time round I had Chicken Rogan Josh which was also nice.

Great little stop

We were driving near Hawra and detoured to Hawra to get ice cream at The Gelato Cafe, which was, unfortunately, closed and decided to eat at Zaika. What am excellent meal. One of the best Indian meals I've had, including my favorite restaurant in Chicago. Portions were generous, naan was baked to perfection. We all had different dishes, rogan josh, tiki masala, veggie korma. All excellent.

Exceeded my expectations- delicious

Traveling solo around NZ for work, I was spending the night in Hawera. Stop here for diner, nice wine list and very reasonably price drinks and food. I started with some Indian bbq prawns and had the lamb korma. Asked for medium spice being conservative, however I should have ordered hot. They slightly reduce heat for NZ’ers. Take a risk and go one hotter than you normally would. The service was excellent with the waiters being quick to serve and check food was all good. Will dine here next time I am back in Hawera (hopefully not too often ha ha).
