Beautiful peaceful setting, comfortable accommodation, delightful alpacas and very kind, generous hosts.
We had a very special four nights here. Jessie could not have mean kinder, and she shared so much fascinating information about the alpacas and about her fabric art. We were extremely comfortable in our clean, well maintained cottage, lovely bed linen, alpaca duvets and spare alpaca blankets to snuggle into. the kitchen was also well equipped. Only a short drive to Manapouri and Te Anau and the start of the Kepler track. In between excursions we were very content to be able to spend quiet time away from the crowds, surrounded by nature and the extremely endearing alpacas, who would come to the fence to say hello. We look forward to returning. There is so much to do and explore in the surrounding area.
Great hosts, location and stay!
This is a casual and unique experience in the middle of beautiful Fiordland. The farm was a convenient five minute drive to our launch location for an overnight on the Doubtful Sound the next day. Our one night at Kepler Mountain View was comfortable and clean with a well-equipped kitchen. Jessie and Ray are passionate about their animals and their ranch-- and it shows in their hospitality. We appreciated being able to do laundry too after a long journey through the country. It was supremely interesting to be on an alpaca farm and we enjoyed the opportunity to learn about them and feed them. Jessie also is a master felter using the alpaca wool and completes stunning work like scarfs, blankets and other wearables for purchase. The views of the alps was stunning. We loved sipping our wine in the outdoor spa and taking in the majestic views. I would highly recommend a stay here. …
Alpacas and alpine views - accomodation with a difference!
Set in an amazing location surrounded by snow capped mountains, this property was an absolute treat to stay in. Our host Jessie was friendly and generous with her time and we enjoyed getting to know her and meeting all the alpacas on the farm - feeding time was especially fun! The Wild Wool Gallery is also on site where you can buy beautiful alpaca products made with love by Jessie. The accommodation was spacious enough for two people - cosy, comfortable and modern. Extremely well equipped kitchen - we were able to cook meals every night, which was helpful considering there are not many dining options in Manapouri. Warm, comfortable beds including a rollaway which is handy if you dont want to share the main bed or if you are travelling with a child. Free wi-fi was fast and reliable and the onsite laundry with washer and dryer was very handy as we had been travelling for over a week! We LOVED coming home to the spa each evening after venturing out on chilly winter days! Watching the sunset over the mountains with a glass of wine in hand was magical. The property is no more than a 5 mins drive down to the lakefront and about 20-30 mins drive into Te Anau. It's a great base for exploring Fiordland - Doubtful Sound is a MUST do when in the area. If you are looking for accommodation with a difference, then look no further. Would definitely stay again if ever in the area. …
We stayed only one night and everything was great. Shame we didn't get to meet the hosts, but the cat was the best host ever ! The cat with the alpacas together were super cute, she is the boss ! The room is very comfortable, clean and everything you need , near to the starting point of Doubtful Sound cruise and to the village. Question for the hosts : what breed of cat is it ? We want one ! Thank you!
Amazing experience meeting 42 alpacas
We loved every minute of our stay. Jessie and Ray passed on so much knowledge about alpacas that has opened up a whole new knowledge bank for us. Cottage is small but fully equipped, quiet and comfortable.
