Very comfortable, everything you need in the rooms, staff was very helpful with both accommodation and suggestions for local walks nearby, plus birding spots - would love to spend more time! Beautiful view from accommodation.
Awesome spot-- both a nice place and a great location for Milford Sound!
So, we were staying in Queenstown and trying to decide how to visit Milford Sound: 1) Stay in Queenstown and drive 3.5 hours each way (in one day!) to Milford Sound and back. 2) Stay in Te Anau and drive 90 minutes to Milford Sound and back same day 3) Stay directly at Milford Sound Lodge and pay US$200-400 per night, no driving. 4) Stay at Knobs Flat Accommodation, drive 35 minutes to Milford Sound So... as you can imagine, we chose to stay at Knobs Flat. We were SOOOO happy to have chosen this! Even better was that we enjoyed the small cabin/ apartment so much. We actually arrived around noon or 1pm, and had planned to do the cruise the following morning-- but the weather was sunny at Knobs Flat when we arrived, and knowing how rainy and terrible the weather is known to be at Milford Sound, we took a chance and drove straight to the cruise terminal there, and enjoyed a gorgeous sunny day and cruise on Milford Sound! That would not have been possible when in Queenstown and even Te Anau. As for this accommodation-- I see some negative reviews due to sand flies. We stayed in one of the motel cabins and it was clean and the kitchen was plenty well equipped for heating up and doing some basic cooking. Price was very reasonable, considering the gorgeous location in the valley. We would love to stay here again. …
A little shaky
Arrived just before 6 to find the reception almost closed. The lady was super helpful, showing me the weather forecast for the next day at Milford Sound and suggested some short walks. The kitchen was great and merry some fantastic people there. The shower was possible the best I've experienced in NZ. About 10pm, the ground shook. 5.6 on the Richter scale. Had to laugh otherwise I'd have poo'd myself. Would stay again.
