Lyness Accommodation

Spent six days at Lyness in the suite attached to the main house. It was comfortable and nicely decorated. We had just arrived in New Zealand and this was the perfect spot to relax at the end of a busy day. Loved the porch overlooking the garden. Our hosts were very friendly and informative about the area. Kerikeri itself is a great town to base yourself in the North part of the island. Alas, we were the last guests to stay in the suite as the owners had sold the house and were in the midst of moving out.

My husband planned out our honeymoon, and chose Lyness Accommodations in Kerikeri, NZ as the primary place where we would be staying during our 5 1/2 weeks overseas. (We are from the U.S.) We spent about 3 weeks (with an 8-day break in between) in Lyness Cottage and were delighted with everything about the place--the view, the privacy, the homey/romantic atmosphere, our hosts(!). They treated us royally--changing our sheets for us, providing plenty of tea/coffee, giving helpful information, changing our towels--and all done very discreetly while we were away from the cottage so that we wouldn't feel like we were being imposed upon. We couldn't have asked for nicer hosts or a nicer place to stay! They felt like friends by the time we had to head home. The cottage was a little "home away from home" during our stay in New Zealand. I don't normally travel on my own but I was in this instance due to my husbands commitments. We have stayed in some exceptional places internationally and Lyness known historically as "Strathbrae" is a little piece of paradise in KeriKeri, Northland, NZ. You have a choice of two accommodation styles - The Cottage with stunning views over Keri Keri inlet - the water looked like silk each morning, and I woke up to birdsong each day - OR - Lyness Suite itself, being part of the main house. Being on my own I opted for the cottage but the suite would also nave been terrific had the Cottage been unavailable. Sharon and Adrian have lived, worked and travelled internationally, they are real characters and know how to "host" beautifully. They are there to make your stay as good as it can be without being obtrusive, offering a friendly yet professional approach. Lyness Suite is attached to the main house, but you would never know it - you feel you have the place to yourselves and....if you happen to want to have an extra family member or friend to stay there is a spare bedroom with its own bathroom to boot that can be made available for a small extra stipend = perfect! I had friends up to join me and they stayed in the suite with their son. Without hesitation we will all definitely be back - probably fighting to dates! Northland is a stunning part of NZ, the cradle of NZ 's early development and offers a real taste of the NZ lifestyle. It is not to be missed and has something for everyone irrespective of; age, nationality or interests. Check it out! I have already booked our next stay on 2014! …

We spent 3 wonderful nights in the Lyness suite, and though the weather wasn't always as warm and welcoming as we had hoped, our accommodation and host sure were! This place is cosy and comfortable with just the right amount of luxury to make you feel like you're really on holidays. Sharon is a wonderful host and booked tours for us and suggested great places to visit. The view is fantastic and the room large and wonderful. Loved it!
