Matheson Bay is a lovely bay surrounded by beautiful scenery It changes with weather and time of day So is always enchanting The beach is good as are the facilities On the point is a historical marker commemorating the early ship building industry in the area It is named after the Matheson Family

Lovely beach. Parking a little challenging. Good bay to visit by boat. Swimming platform in a good location.

Lovely lovely beach
Such a nice discover!
We went up to Taipa for a long weekend and our way back decided to spend a night in Leigh;
while heading to Makatana for having dinner we have seen the sign of the bay and decided to check it,
great we did it because the place is really lovely, sand beach, warm water and all the facilities on the back (showers, large parking, even a camping site);
absolutely recommended.

Road trip
Just a small beach with a pontoon. Very busy when we went. Beautiful scenery and great for swimming. It was a very clean Beach and had awesome rock pools

Don t tell
Anyone or it will be sll over soon. Beautifull bay north of Auckland, shallow enough to swim out even on normal high tides, very quiet and peacefull during the week. Sawmill Brewery not far away as well as Matakana with a very nice farmers weekend market and some very nice winerys. Recommend Robin Ransom winery!!

Beautiful Bay
This bay is usually used for divers as as it gets above head height after about 5 meters. There is a floating pontoon about 70 meters out. There is also a shallow river that runs onto the beach which is good for young children, so this beach can suit the whole family. Ice cream and coffee van on site. It also has a reef and there were quite a few fishermen down the side of the bay but no where near the swimming area.

Beautiful beach
Located an hour drive from Auckland, this is a beautiful and peaceful bay. We went there for our scuba diving certification on a Sunday morning. It was packed with beach-goers and snorkelers alike.
