Couldn’t believe how much was here
This park is definitely worth a visit. It contains multi aspects of several different campaigns. A very moving and enjoyable experience.

Stop, pause, contemplate- Lest we forget
I was driving down Memorial Drive in a rush to catch up with a friend I hadn’t see for over 40 years when I realized I was passing the memorial. So I stopped parked and enter the grounds. It is a peaceful place with lovely grassed areas and plaques remembering the fallen - those who have their lives to enable me to have mine. Time to stop, pause and thank those men and women who sacrificed for us/me.

Tranquil
Memorial to the brave servicemen and women of 2 world wars. Lovely gardens to stroll around and look at the spitfire or just sit and relax.

Pleasant park
Often overlooked, this park was dedicated to New Zealand soldiers killed abroad. A simple cenotaph has stood here for many years, but recent years have seen other installations, including a small garden memorial to Ieper (Ypres), and the newest one being the wonderful War Horse. A long overdue tribute to the thousands of horses shipped overseas in World War One. There is also a pretty well kept garden, and walkways connect to the children’s playground close by. There is much of interest in the area, with mature trees, tree ferns and easy walking paths down to the river.
