Seems adventurous
- Did not do this bc I got there to late in the day.
- It’s a bit far from the main road, but so scenic on the drive to the activity.
- The set up seems quite nice and adventurous.
- We arrived at closing time and were unable to participate.

What a shame. Spend your money elsewhere.
Unfortunately, we are not impressed with Gravity Canyon.
We booked a giant swing for two people back on 21st May for the 29th June where the money shortly left my account.
We made the 2.5 hour trip from Taupo to Taihape yesterday where we attempted to call Gravity Canyon several times along the way. There was no answer but we presumed they were busy and unable to answer our calls.
When we arrived at the site, it was completely empty and there was a sign on the door that read ’CLOSED - due to river conditions’. Next to this there was a sign that read ’During winter, closed Tuesday - Thursday’. Obviously, we realise any outdoor activities are weather permitting, however, we were not contacted at all by phone or email. As we are on holiday, we do not have consistent access to the Internet but we endeavour to check every day. However, it appeared that the company knew they would not be open on Wednesday 29th June but their website back in May read they would open 7 days a week and allowed us to confirm our booking and took $318 dollars from our account. In addition to this, leaflets provided by our holiday park and leaflets available around Taupo read that the park is open 7 days a week, 9am - 5pm. It is apparent that the decision to change their opening times is new.
We tried to get in touch with Gravity Canyon again and the company who own them - Taupo Tourism Holdings, both no answer. We decided to visit Taupo Bungy, their sister company, as a last resort, the following day to try and find an answer.
Spend your money and time here.
Centre of Taupo, cheaper and absolutely incredible staff. Myself and Taupo Bungy are now in the process of getting some sort of explanation about the situation and a full refund.
It is a shame as the other reviews for Gravity Canyon are so good but a company who does not think about its customers and is willing to take $318 is not a company I would choose to visit.
The leaflet says "you couldn’t be in safer hands", I’m not so sure.

Over too soon!
My boyfriend and I headed to Gravity Canyon after a morning of white water rafting at River Valley.
We chose the flying fox experience and did it tandem. There is a long 15 minute walk up to the exit point so be sure to take a bottle of water, it’s quite steep at times too. Sadly my boyfriend was suffering from a terrible fever at the time and we weren’t advised by the reception staff to take some water or the length of the walk - this information would be good before starting the walk as there is no water at the top!
We were quickly strapped into our harnesses and ready to go! The staff at the exit point are reassuring and very professional with their security checks. We were provided with a gopro on a stick to film our experience and then off we went!
The ride was fantastically exhilarating, both of us aren’t particularly keen on heights so thundering through a gorge at 100mph was incredible! However the 5 or so minutes of being pulled back was fairly unpleasant but you can’t get off without being pulled back, so just close your eyes & it’s over soon enough!
We chose not to purchase the gopro footage as the contrast was poor in the gorge and our faces were incredibly dark throughout the footage.
Good fun to do!

Amazing Flying Fox!
Great experience at Gravity Canyon! We did the flying fox which was absolutley amazing! There is a bit of a walk to get to the platform but it is well worth it! The flying fox was a great option for someone like me who is not an adrenaline junkie and didnt want to attempt a swing or bungy! Fantastic views and great that we had the the option of buying the go-pro footage to share our experience back home with the beautiful surroundings! The staff were so friendly and made us feel at ease throughout. Would definitely go back! Thank you!

EPICALLY TERRIFYING!!!
Did the swing and the flying fox. The swing was amazingly terrifying with an awesome 50m freefall which feels like forever. The flying fox was a cool experience which feels like flying. The canyon and scenery are beautiful which makes this place an awesome visit. Celebrate with a yum toasty and cool beer afterwards is a must!!! The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Amazing Flying Fox! That walk though....
So let me start this off my saying that i am an overweight ex smoker (quit 12 months ago) and to get to the flying fox you pretty much have to scale the side of a mountain. They told us it would be a 15 minute walk but by the time i lugged my big rear end up there it was closer to 40 minutes. There are plenty of little spots to stop and take in the view along the way and make sure you take water. But trust me when i say that THE WALK IS WORTH EVERY STEP!!!!
The view from the top is simply breathtaking and the actual flying fox is exhilarating. The staff are very safety conscious. Definitely recommend giving this a try. Would have been a five star review. That walk though...... ????????????
