Depends on the exhibits
When we were there the gallery was devoted to works competing for an up and coming prize. As always with modern art, there will be some you like and some you don’t. The best ones for me were actually amongst the kids exhibition. Eva and Rosa’s Peace Pizza was as good as any of the competition works.
Free entry - why not take a look?
Best art gallery in Wellington
A wide selection of styles and media on display when we visited in early May. This is a much better place to visit than Te Papa. We have never been disappointed by this gallery. A shop has affordable art works for display. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. A must visit Gallery every time we visit Wellington. It is a large space with plenty of room for visitors to take time to view each piece at their leisure.
This was a real highlight.
We have to agree with every other favourable review and we are so pleased we visited. After a number of disappointments at Te Papa and the forlorn Portrait Gallery (maybe not their fault - their collection is shamefully small) we encountered some really interesting art and a small exhibition. We also treated ourselves to an unexpected, modestly priced watercolour which we found in the excellent shop.
It’s possibly the only thing that would have us return to Wellington!
Pop in if you can - worth it
Always worth popping in here.
Changing exhibitions and great little shop for something different.
You can buy a lot of the artwork so pop in if near here.
something for everyone here
