Even better the iSite described!

Visiting the iSite for things to do while the mountain was closed this museum was described to us as "better than it sounds" by Rose at the iSite. Well when we got in there we were bloody well impressed by this little museum.
Entering to displays about types of soil (allowing you to touch all different types of dirt) it just got better from there. There is a very difficult digger simulation that had us enraptured for at least and hour, a giant shiny red tractor, a cow model that has me very confused about how cows work but had lots of colors and lights, and a great little model mountain hut. Lots of videos round the place to watch that were all pretty good though would sometimes play super loud scaring other visitors (which was also pretty entertaining).
We spent close to 2 hours here and probably only managed to read half of the displays. There was lots of really interesting stuff, allowing you to skim past the stuff that doesn’t get you going. Good range from a bit of the past, to whats happening now with agriculture, mountain sports, farming and hunting. I learnt lots of facts I can’t wait to bring up at parties. Would highly recommend for a rainy day

Rainy Day

After being stuck inside for a couple of days due to rain it was nice for the kids to have a play and explore.
Kids aged 5, 4, 3 & 2 had great fun and was awesome to see live bees!!

Amazing display outlining local attractions and history

This sadly under-used attraction is well worth visiting for a hour or so in Methven . Perhaps on a down day when the ski field is closed. It sets out in great detail the two main economic drivers of this small town - that of agriculture and the winter skiing. Many hands-on displays and informative exhibits tell of the local farming types, and the history and development of the nearby Mt Hutt Ski Field. As a New Zealand citizen, I even learned things. Ideal for families and school groups as well.
