3k easy walk - recommend to locals
3K walk - mostly flat. This place is a wonderful loop walk. If you go clockwise you have a small hill to climb nothing major. You can extend the walk a little when getting to the bridge, walk down past bridge past the old bird rescue center. There are lots of shags nesting down this end of the walk.
Nothing overally interesting on the way around the basin, but it is very peaceful walk.
2 playgrounds are on the loop.
This walk is more enjoyable when the tide is in, because when its out it sure is out.
I recommend to locals (Aucklanders) for a walk, as it is a loop walk, a easy walk and well paved. This would be of no interest to tourists - as there is nothing else there and in comparison to other walks not a lot of nature of birdlife.
There is a model railway while runs on Sundays that is great for the kids to have a train ride. And, also a pond that has model boats - Waipuna side . There is a sailing club (Ireland road side) and these look nice when out on the water.

Good lenght walk, not too challenging
In less than an hour you can walk the entire basin. Great place to exercise in relative peace in the middle of a bustling neighbourhood.

Love this place
We have had 2 more trips up to Auckland in the last few months, in June and again in July. We make sure we always visit Panmure Basin for a walk. It is better when the tide is out, because there are many more birds, looking for food where the water has receded. See my photos for some of the birds we saw when we were there in June.
We get the train from Britomart to Panmure, and it is a short walk from the train station to the basin. When we have finished walking around Panmure Basin we walk on, down to the Sylvia Park Mall for some lunch. Nice outing.

Nice quiet lagoon
Beautiful short 3 km walk along this lagoon.
But if you are a tourist you may not want to spend your time here unless you are in the Panmure area already.
It is close enough to Mt. Wellington, so you could do another adventure there as well.

Panmure Basin Loop
Something for all the family on this 1.9 mile tarmac loop round a crater (no steps so ok for wheelchairs). Exercise equipment for the serious jogger and playground equipment for the children but for me a pleasant stroll for anyone visiting the Panmure district.
