Friendly store owner - accommodation close to the beach and estuary.
We were very well looked after by Lynn the owner, we stayed in a one-bedroom fully equipped motel unit behind the store and next to the DOC camp. The estuary and beach are just down the path...it's such a beautiful place to spend time, and rewarding to hear so many tuis in the surrounding trees. The store has the cheapest petrol in the Catlins, a variety of food and gifts, alcohol and some deli products like nice cheeses for sale. Lynn is very knowledgeable about the area and also owns the Whistling Frog complex 12 kms away with a restaurant and accommodation.

Outstanding service
We stopped here on a recent visit to the Catlins region. We were desperate to find something to eat and having no luck with the little cafes along the route. We were met with a smile from Scott. He had run out of food but nothing was too much trouble - he soon rustled up some more hot pies and delicious slices to satisfy our hungry tummies. Scott went out of his way to help us and I can not thank him enough for his kindness. True Southern hospitality.
