So much fun!

We were lucky enough to be the last boat of the season!
Our guide was brilliant, super knowledgeable and made the trip much more enjoyable.
The river was quite low, so the rapids weren’t as challenging as we expected so we will definitely be back when the river is higher and flowing faster! Apparently spring time is best, once the snow is melting - more water equals better rapids!
Not gonna lie, the water is freezing but you’re protected from the cold with all the layers of wetsuits. And you can drink the water straight out of the river!
Do the cliff jumping if you get a chance.
Lots of laughs with a great bunch of people.

Banger afternoon

Absolutely mint time. Had the *most* handsome instructor too. If you’re not reasonably confident in water I would recommend avoiding, time moves very slowly if you go underwater so if you’re gonna panic you won’t have a good time. Got my adrenaline going more than skydiving.

Absolute MUST Do!!

Our rafting experience was amazing - drifting on the Shotover through the stunning Skippers Canyon and flying through the rapids (grade 3 and 4) with each kilometer providing a natural step up in progression. For those who are nervous: you don’t go down a Grade 4 straight away - it’s a gentle progression with lots of practice on Grade 2s and 3s first. The final sections see you drifting through a 170 metre miner-built tunnel straight on to a fantastic Grade 4 rapid - a fabulous way to finish!

Our guides (Kennan, Harry, Will and Percy) put our minds immediately at ease. They had so much rafting experience, were incredibly friendly and professional and made for a very exciting yet safe experience.

The whole operation ran so smoothly, from the transfers (including the expertly navigated Skippers Canyon Drive), to safety briefings and getting us home safely after an exhilarating morning. All the gear (wetsuits etc) is washed well immediately after use and there are hot showers available at the end!

We finished our tour onsite with a delicious and lunch at the newly re-opened Canyon Brewery (not part of the package, but we’ll worth a visit).

Absolutely recommend as a must do activity while in Queenstown.

Disappointing

Most adventurous part of the trip was the way to the river through narrow unsolid rocky way. Also river basin in valley is really wonderful.
Regarding the rafting experience, boring for most of the time just flowing on the river, my adrenaline went up exactly 6 times when we reach the rapids lasting each time for approximatelly minute.
Guide was overly safety oriented repeatedly mentioning what could happen when we get out of the raft.
Overall I was pretty disappointed comparing this experience to my previous ones from different continents.

Living on the edge

Very cool activity, exciting from the way up to the way down. Good raft, wonderful surroundings, smooth and relaxed organised. Worth the money, takes about 4-4,5 hours! The vibe with the staff is very good to ???????? only thing that was to bad is the costs of getting the foto’s but that seems to be normal nowadays

Great fun morning rafting

Go Orange rafting was a great activity from Queenstown and way to see the Shotover River canyon. I was feeling apprehensive but the Go Orange guys are such good fun it made me feel relaxed before we started. You get fully kitted up and a safety briefing before you start, the rafting guide also teaches you how to paddle and the different instructions for the rapids along the way. Harry our guide was really funny but professional so we felt very well looked after. He let us know what was coming up along the river and what we needed to do so nothing was a surprise. Really enjoyed this activity and would recommend!

Great fun

White water rafting on the Shotover River was great fun! I was apprehensive beforehand and we were a group of mixed fitness/adventure levels, but our instructor made us feel very safe. I would recommend it :)

Also, a huge shout out to Elliot B who went above and beyond to return an item to me that I left behind at the rafting centre. I really appreciate it. Absolute top customer service, thank you!

Hours of fun in safe capable hands!

I booked the white water rafting for my partners 30th birthday, he was super excited for weeks and these guys totally lived up to our expectations! At first you feel like you’re signing your life away with the waiver at the depot/shop but we felt completely safe the whole time - we even hopped out of the rafts ourselves and floated down on our backs a couple times, the water was crystal clear blue.
The drive through the Skippers canyon terrified me but my partner loved it, Harry (safety kayaker) gave us great info and had us all laughing the whole way. We only had four of us in our boat alongside our guide, I want to say his name was Yuba? from Nepal. He was great at teaching us the commands before we tackled the rapids, he was very friendly, interesting and had a great sense of humour - we felt totally safe in his hands. Unfortunately the river was running quite low on the day- 12 cubic something? Can’t remember the term! Anyway, would love to try this again if the river was running higher! Thanks for such a great rememberable day :)
