A little gem!
Our family of five stayed here and used Raetihi Holiday Park as our base for skiing atTuroa Ski Field. It is 10 minutes of out Ohakune. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and a log fire burning in the reception area. Our cabin was a basic cabin, we hired linen and it was absolutely perfect for our family. The heater was fantastic, even with 0 degree temperatures outside. We used the shared facilities for toilets, showers, kitchen, laundry and dining space. There is also a drying room, essential for getting all our gear dry again for the next day. All shared spaces were clean and tidy, we will definitely be back and we'd very happily recommend Raetihi Hoilday Park to our friends and family.
Who would have guessed...
...that you can find such well-designed and super clean facilities in a small place like this? The showers and WCs are spacious with shelves and hooks in the right places. The flooring is non-slip. Good for parents with young children or anyone wriggling out of wet clothes. The kitchen provides ample space to cook and eat, and encourages recycling. We had booked into a cabin after our River journey and had a good night's sleep. Staff were utterly friendly and accommodating. It's a 10/10 from us.
Great location and immaculate facilities
We stayed at Raetihi for two nights so that we could experience a jet boat tour on the Whanganui River. This is the perfect place to stay if you plan any type of river trip. Our little cabin was warm and comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom facilities were excellent. The shower cubicles are super well set up with heaps of room for your stuff and to get dressed in a dry spot. The ladies in the office were very helpful and even gave us some shopping tips for our onward journey.
We stayed here to visit the mountain and go for a few hikes, and have been blown away by how lovely it is! Exceptionally nice amenities, probably the nicest bathrooms and showers you will find anywhere. Clean, incredibly warm cabins with comfy beds, quiet and peaceful. The staff are very helpful and friendly, we got here late and they were very accommodating. Fantastic prices, much better than Airbnb's in the area. Highly recommend!!
Excellent Campsite and perfect for us doing The Whanganui Journey
We stayed here the night before starting The Whanganui Journey. We’d already booked the canoe hire in advance too with Whanganui River Canoes who also own the campsite. We had a campervan site, a cabin and a Glamping Tent between our group of 8. All very good, brand new cabin, basic ideal for the night. New looking shower block, modern camp kitchen, very clean and well organised. Lovely views to Ruapheu and ideal as a base to do The Whanganui Journey, as they do everything for you from here: Canoe hire, transport to and from, barrels for gear etc, safety briefings. We could leave our vehicles safety on site whilst on the canoe journey. Lovely grassy sites with views, for those wanting a relaxing stay if not doing the canoe trip. Powerful hot showers which are huge, plenty of shelf space and hooks! Really lovely owners who were so helpful and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again, I wish all campgrounds in NZ were this good! …
