Simply 5 star in every way!
We were two couples from Hamilton having a 3 day weekend away. Sue-Ellen was a fabulous host from the moment we arrived, her attention to deal was exceptional. The facilities were beautiful with tasteful decor and the most amazing views down over the valley. The beds were like sleeping in clouds, so warm and comfortable. Thank you Sue-Ellen for making sure every detail was perfect during our stay, starting with the most delicious breakfast, organising transport back from the local Hotel after dinner through to finishing the day off with a complimentary whiskey or port and then had the beds turned down and chocolates on the pillows. Our whole stay was fabulous, and we all highly recommend it we will be back!
Wonderful boutique accommodation
We had a lovely few days at Rimu Lodge. Sue-Ellen is a warm and welcoming host who understands what travellers are looking for. Well appointed, spacious rooms, with quality linens and toiletries with additional personal touches made for a relaxing stay. The guests' living room is a great place to have a glass of wine in front of the fire, a quiet read or a chat with other guests. Breakfasts were delicious and beautifully presented Sue-Ellen is very knowledgeable about the area and will give you lots of helpful hints about what to see and do. Highly recommended.

The lodge offers everything you could wish for, rooms are luxurious and the ‘grand lounge’ is a inviting space to relax in, big open fire, comfy furniture etc. yummy breakfast. Great pub walking distance down the road for dinner! We had a wonderful stay! Sunrise amazing from our room.
From the moment we drove in we were impressed and made to feel welcome and special. We were told of activities in and around Hokitika. Shown to the ‘Tui” room we were immediately impressed with the décor before stepping out onto the large deck overlooking the valley and river. After a great night’s sleep in the most comfortable bed, we headed into breakfast that would rival the best we have enjoyed. Sue-ellen is the ultimate hostess with many little extras and an eye for detail. I cannot rate Rimu Lodge highly enough so if you come to Hokitika you will be in for a treat.
