Ruapehu Homestead Horsetrekking

Such a great place. Really friendly staff and very family friendly. Our two girls had never been on horses before and the staff made them feel very comfortable. They did the 30 min ride down the road and back again and haven’t stopped talking about it since. Such great value for money. Would absolutely recommend going here.

Tereza was fantastic on this ride, she was personable and easy to talk to, whilst also having great knowledge on the area and its history.

I went with my family of 8 on a one hour horse trek led by Sophie yesterday. We are mixed group ranging from 12-50 years old with mostly no experience.

We all had a wonderful time and enjoyed going through the Forrest. All the horses have beautiful natures and we enjoyed chatting to Sophie about the horses and even touched on some Ohakune history.

We had such a good time 3 of us went back for a private lesson today. The price was very reasonable and we all felt like we learned a lot in short space of time.

Would highly recommend to any rider or family!

We had a great time riding in the beautiful bush. It was basically our first time on horses, so we really appreciated the guidance and support of Sophie — who also had wonderful knowledge about the local plant and bird life. 100% recommend!

Stunning afternoon on the back of a beautiful horse today. Well organized trek from a pretty homestead. Super easy to get on horseback - anot impressive sturdy stairway platform so anyone of any ability can step up and be in the saddle easily. Our guide Hannah was wonderful. She gave good clear instructions to our 8 year old daughter and quickly built a great rapport that had the rider feeling relaxed, confident and happy. Also very happy to take photos of us on horseback. Lovely to walk down a sleepy village road and through a nice river into the bush. Couldn’t recommend this experience highly enough - we’ll be back!
