Lodges of the South

Suite was incredible, view was amazing. No detail was overlooked. Staff we professional, polite, friendly and discreet. Breakfast was delicious. We did the Trust the Chef dining one evening along with Wine Pairing - this was definitely worth it, great selection and range of food - yummy! We highly recommend you stay here!

Outstanding rustic cottage getaway!

We stayed in the cottage. Absolutely outstanding quiet location with beautiful views from various points inside and outside the Cottage!!! Fold back window in the bathroom creating a great outdoor flow while in the spa. Just fantastic and the staff were friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommend this getaway and we will definitely be returning.

What a Beautiful Place

Our room was the Coronet room which looked out over Coronet peak. Absolutely stunning scenery. Sat on our balcony every morning noon and night. The service from the time we got there until we left was so good. Shurti looked after us everyday like we were the only guests. We had the degustation meal on our first night and although it is an extra expense I highly recommend it. The chef did a fantastic job of the food and after the cheese board we got with wine on arrival certainly satisfied us. We really enjoyed the massages which were in our room. We did the hot tub (not a spa) and had the most gorgeous views. Breakfast chef was also preparing very delicious food as well. Have nothing bad to say about our experience or the cost. The wine tour was fun and we got to taste the wine of some very fine vineyards. …

Absolutely awesome place, we are unfortunately could not do business due to country lockdown, we had to cancel our appointments, not only this we had to reschedule our flight twice which was painful. However we had to extending our stay and spoken to owner of place, they understand our situation and give us best price they can do in this such quality place, even through many days here, we never feel bored for this place, fantastic view, you would never get from anywhere else, we have stayed many 5 stars resort and hotels around world in before, I had to say this is one of my favorite and unique place you would never find anywhere else, we are very happy our choices, the staff, chefs and management all very friendly and helpful. We will back again!

Can’t wait to go back

My partner and I have just returned from our stay and we’re ready to go back already! A one night stay became 3 nights thanks to the snap lockdown in New Zealand, and the staff and manager Wayne could not have went further to make us feel welcome and reduce the stress of the situation at not being able to get back to the north island. The complimentary wine and cheese board were such a nice touch, and the inclusive breakfast had a large variety to choose from. Before lockdown happened we had arranged a Trust the Chef dinner and an in room massage; both of which were incredible. The chef Warwick is the best in town and we would definitely recommend eating at the venue. Location is perfect, with easy access to Lake Hayes walking track, and 5 minute drive into Arrowtown. Would highly recommend the extra expense to stay at The Retreat it’s is the most beautiful building we have stayed in and the perfect place to celebrate our engagement. Thanks Wayne, Warwick, Kara, Mike, Lucas and all of the rest of the team who went over and above to make our stay amazing. …
