Our Team The professional team will ensure you receive the best service whilst respecting your privacy. They are experienced and can help you develop the occasion or event you have in mind. Our Members While members are still mainly corporate and professional people, the emphasis of the Club has altered to meet today’s changing lifestyles. The Tauranga Club currently has in excess of 500 members and spouses/partners are offered full use of the Club facilities From its founding, there have been many well known Tauranga names associated with the Club History On Monday, 2nd April 1894, The Bay of Plenty Times reported that a meeting of gentlemen was held in the Tauranga Hotel to establish a social organisation to be named the "Tauranga Club". The subscription was set at one guinea. Mr H.B. Johnston was elected as the founding President with Colonel Roberts as Vice President. On 4th June 1894, it was reported the first meeting of the Club was held in a comfortable furnished room at the Star Hotel on Devonport Road. During the late 1920’s The Tauranga Club moved to its present site at 72 Devonport Road (the exact date is uncertain). In 2002(?) The development of the Devonport Towers began. Up until this point, The Club had owned the site for almost 80 years. The Devonport Towers are 15 levels high and contain 50 apartments and "The Hotel on Devonport" with 42 rooms As a condition of the sale, an agreement was made to situate the Tauranga Club on Level 5 of the Devonport Towers and for the restaurant/bar in The Tauranga Club to provide catering to hotel guests The new Tauranga Club clubrooms were opened in September 2004 The Club boasts one of the best views of the Tauranga Harbour. The view it has always had since it’s inception in 1894

Engaging professional staff and excellent food

Introduced by Hotel on Devonport we utilised the Club's facilities for dinner. Excellent food choices and reasonable drinks menu. We both decided on the lamb mains with duck fat potatoes sides which were well presented and of excellent standard. Nice ambiance in the Club incorporating wide-ranging sea and city views. Engaging wait staff ensured a pleasing overall experience. Recommended.

We stayed at Devonport hotel so was able to visit the club. It is in a great location with fantastic views. Although we didn’t eat here, the menu looks very good. The service was ok and reasonably priced. It is a great place for an afternoon drink or dinner.

Wedding bliss

My partner and i chose this venue for our wedding as it was ther perfect size for our guests, we could have our ceremony and reception all in the one place and the view it offers over the city and water was a real treat for all our family visiting from overseas and out of town. Weve had non stop comments from all ourguests about how delicious all the food was and what was delivered was definatly enough so no one went hungry on our day. Robyn was always quick and informative to every question or concern we had leading up to our wedding and always made time to meet with us and we couldnt of asked for a better wedding day. I would recommend this venue to people in the future for there event or wedding, thank you again to all the staff at the tauranga club for having us and hosting such a wonderful wedding day i will never forget.

Made my Hotel Stay all the more enjoyable

When visiting Tauranga recently, I stayed overnight at the Hotel Devonport, ( coincidentally, on Devonport Road in the CBD ) As a hotel guest, I was entitled to avail myself of the wonderful facilities of the usually private members only Tauranga Club, conveniently located in the same building. This 5th floor location gives the patron a most magnificent view of the upper Tauranga Harbour and coupled with a small but excellent menu, full bar facility and very friendly staff, makes the whole experience of visiting this establishment a memorable one. Remember to remind reception in the hotel about being able to visit the club when you check in. Footnote - Excellent breakfast menu but it is only served on Saturday's.
