Phenomenal Accommodation
It's not often that a holiday is planned around an accommodation before a destination, but after staying at The Ghost Lodge just one night, we're already planning a revisit and activities close to the lodge. Simon, the incomparable host, has renovated the lodge tastefully and comfortably. On one hand, I wish this amazing retreat was a secret we could keep yo ourselves, but we wish Simon continued success and therefore want to spread the word. I highly recommend The Ghost Lodge and look forward to the next stay!

Great place to stay
We have just had a weekend at The Ghost Lodge. We honestly did not know what to expect but this Lodge exceeded all expectations. The Lodge was very clean and everything was of a light standard, it was like home away from home. It was right on the beach, first night Simon lit the bonfire, it was such an amazing setting. We were mountainbiking in the area which was equally as good. The Lodge is certainly the place to stay if you are in that area, couldn’t fault a thing. Well done Simon

5 Star experience
This lodge is fantastic. A great place to stay for any group doing the Old Ghost Road as it is about halfway between start and finish. It’s a mansion with very comfortable beds and luxury sheets. The lounges and games room are very comfortable. It’s bonus is that it is right on the beach and the host will light a fire so you can sit and watch the sun set. A great base just out of Westport to explore the west coast with day walks within easy reach. The only place to stay on the west coast. Highly recommended. Great kitchen and facilities. Immaculate and clean .

Great host and vibe
We came over for a long weekend and used the location as central spot to explore the region. Simon, the owner/host welcomed us into the lodge, and then sent us off to collect mussels which he then cooked on the fire at the beach! What a great start. The lodge is beautifully built, very warm and has all the amenities you’ll need, including a great kitchen. The dogs are friendly too, and it’s a great place to explore Denniston, Old Ghost Road, Karamea, and the multitude of hiking tracks nearby. We’ll definitely be back!

Fantastic Accomodation close to The Ghost Rd Mountainbike Rd
This place is fantastic for a stay close to the Old Ghost Rd. It has a wonderful homely feel about it as the owner Simon has done a fantastic job of building a unique lodge with native timbers and tasteful furnishings. We stopped here after mountainbiking the Old Ghost trail -what a way to end - could wash the bikes down and sit relaxing on a wonderful deck overlooking the West Coast outstanding!!! Would be fantastic for a large group as lots of room - we were a group of 3 and loved staying up top listening to the Tasman rolling in on our doorstep. We will never forget our stay at Ghost Lodge and hope to return again someday soon - thanks Simon for being a great host and sharing a wonderful unique place in NZ.
