Really good for the price

We paid $57 for two courses I had a starter and main my wife main and dessert all the dishes were great I had venison for my main and my wife the duck she was impressed with her meal and raved about the dessert. I would happily pay that much anywhere for the food and service we got. You can pay for all 3 courses believe it was $77 but it would have been to much for us. Great meal, great price

Expectations well exceeded

We were scratching our heads about where to eat for our one night at Mt Cook. The reviews for the Panorama were mixed but we decided to visit anyway. We were pleased we did. The Panorama has been closed by management during the international travel shutdown and instead the Alpine restaurant offers 2 or 3 course set course options. The views are to die for and we were pleased with our 5:30 booking (booking highly recommended as we were surprised about how booked up it was). The service was pleasant, professional but not massively attentive. Not that this bothered us being in such a nice spot. The food was delicious. We had low expectations and are quite critical/fussy. There was quite good variety for a set menu. About 4ish options for each our appetisers and mains. The pricing was better than we expected too for the location. $50ish per person for 2 courses. What we would expect to pay at home in Wellington. We highly recommend! Also we weren’t staying at the Hermitage and it wasn’t a problem visiting for dinner.

A Really Memorable Fine Dining Experience.

We did not stay at the Hermitage as the rooms seemed a bit pricey but we came to the Panorama Room for dinner one evening. It had been a beautiful clear day and from our table we were able to watch the sun go down slowly on Mount Cook. The meal itself was the best we had on our stay in the South Island – and we had many very nice dinners. Plenty of choice on the menu and everything prepared to perfection. The service too was excellent – friendly and attentive. We had originally thought that the restaurant might just rely on the view and offer nothing special by way of food and service. We could not have been more wrong!

Fine Dining with More Than Fine Service!

Panorama Restaurant is, as the name suggests, located in a curved room with a great panorama view of Mount Cook. But even without the view, this restaurant more than makes up for the price with its top-quality cuisine and excellent service. Our server, Mr Perfect, lived up to his name with his friendly demeanour and absolutely attentive service. A truly enjoyable dining experience!

Expensive but very good

Nice restaurant within the hotel. Curved shaped room with lots of windows and views of the mountains - spectacular. Really good food, served in fine dining style.
