Location / Nearby Waipu Golf Club

Description

Tucked discreetly alongside SH1, between the townships of Waipu and Ruakaka and overlooking the magnificent Bream Bay lies this great links golf course. With a reputation of some of the best greens in New Zealand this course will offer you a great golf experience which you can top off with a lunch in the very hospitable Linksview Cafe while admiring some of the best outlooks of any golf club. The course is naturally sand based hence it is generally unaffected by wet weather but presents the golfer with some great challenges and outstanding panoramas from tees and greens.

Pie with a View to Die for!

WOW! There is no better view than this, while eating a mouthwatering steak & mushroom pie!
I didn’t take a photo of the pie as my tastebuds were blown away, my other half had a steak & cheese pie and it was just as amazing!!

Will be coming back here next time we are in the area to try all the other choices! The lasagna that came out for another table also looked appetising!!
Until then we will be just dreaming about it....nom nom nom
Excellent service, lovely & friendly staff behind the counter!

Golf or not

This golf club must have one of the best views in the world but we don’t come here for the golf !
We travel north frequently and this is our stop be it for breakfast, morning tea or lunch,
The food is GREAT and to eat in front of this gorgeous view makes you feel like you’re in a resort !!
Well priced - do yourself a favour and have a coffee/tea break.

Family afternoon

Called in just for drinks with son and grandson, beautiful day, best views in Northland and cheapest beer. We all had a lovely afternoon watching the golfers and the America’s cup trials on the horizons.
The menu looked good in the restaurant but we had allready eaten

A great time here

We played here last week while staying in the area. Fairways are a bit dry from lack of rain but the greens are good, We rented a cart and clubs and found it good value for money. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Lovely views as well, we really enjoyed our game.

Great way to finish vacation

One last round before flying back to the USA. A very nice links course along the shores of the South Pacific. Being here in the dry season the fairways were not green, however, the greens were awesome. This was a tough course today due to the winds. I would not have wanted it any other way!

More challenging than meets the eye.

Really enjoyed the course but was not prepared for all the uneven lies in the fairway. Fairways were pretty brown due to lack of rain but all the greens were in great shape. Loved the fact that, at all the golf courses we visited, it was simply walk on. I also found golf to be rather inexpensive compared to home here in Alberta. So, while many things in New Zealand, being an island, are a bit pricey, the golf is a bargain!

STOP for their cafe!!!!

For years we have whizzed by the sign saying visitors welcome and this trip north we finally pulled in to their cafe. I wish we had done so all the times before.
The staff - fabulous! Cabinet food - yummy! Huge menu (due to time we didn’t order anything)...and the view...o the view...stunning.
Coffee was great. Toilets as they are club changing rooms are huge and pristinely clean

Road trip stop over

We stopped for a quick lunch and we were so surprised with amazing views and food was great . We had open steak sandwich which was delicious and the bar man was great as he gave me a tasting of the beer before I could decide which one I liked . We also ended up buying a gold shirt as a souvenir

Golf

Waipu golf course is certainly tough and it’s not made any easier with the pitted fairways. In some holes it was hard to see a cut line between rough and fairway. Otherwise a challenge
Beautiful greens. Great views from the club house and a nice cafe.
