Must see!
A short walk over farm land and bush takes you to Wharariki Beach. It is such a beautiful beach - perfect for photography. If you are lucky, the seals will be there sleeping on the rocks and swimming in the rock pools. Absolute must do if in the area!

Great ocean and views!
Loved walking along the beach and around the place. The rocks etc and the dunes. Loved the wind and the sea however it was not cold for us at the time. Def a must visit.

A must do for this area
This is a must do and you will not be dissapointed. However, try and time it such that you are there on or near the low tide. Also beware that it is a bit of a walk and the sand dune section is very energy sapping because the sand is so fine.
But the beach is lovely, the rocks are amazing, and hopefully you will see seals. It’s free, so why not give it a go.

Magnificent sea views over farmland
An easy walk through rolling farm hills onto the dunes. Magnificent sea views. It was pretty windy the day we went but still worth it.

Have to go at low tide for seal pups!
We got very lucky with the weather being amazing! Sunny and no wind! We happened to go at low tide, which I heard later is the best time to see the seal pups playing in the pools. Definitely the best seal encounter! The pups just splashed about and were really curious! Great day!

Stunning beach
Stunning beach but can be very very windy. so take warm gear.
the sand dunes are great fun. there are always seals.
its best at sunset and sunrise, but take good torches for the walk back.
Be sure to go to the far west of the beach at low tide to see the arches of archway islands and explore the arches and caves.

Well worth the visit
The walk out to it was easy and not too long spectacular views and rock formations and we even got to see a few seals playing about in a rock pool which was wonderful. Plenty of caves to explore as well.

Great Beach
A lovely walk to an impressive beach, with sand dunes, large arched rocks and of course lots of seals. Best to aim for low tide, and be prepared for strong wind. A light jacket with a hood would have been perfect.
